2022 National Symposium Postponed to May

Dear Valued Members of the IJIS Community:

Over the past several weeks, the IJIS Team has been diligently monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and the recent surge of the Omicron variant. Given what we understand from ongoing conversations with our members or what is the experience of our peer organizations, we have ultimately decided to postpone this winter’s National Symposium to Tuesday, May 3rd and Wednesday, May 4th, 2022. This rescheduled event will be held at the Ritz Carlton, Washington D.C.

As a result of these constantly changing circumstances and new District guidelines, we recently polled our membership to better understand our community’s comfort in attending a February event. The overwhelming majority of our constituents detailed their uncertainty about joining us in February due to pandemic-related concerns. This survey also indicated how critical it is to maintain an in-person atmosphere for our organization’s premier conference. As a result, we are confident that this decision will provide greater utility for you and your colleagues in attending.

Although this conference will be held later this Spring, we wanted to provide you with a couple of resulting decisions/reminders:

  • You can still register and reserve your spot for the 2022 National Symposium by going to: https://ijis.org/page/National_Symposium.
  • The 20-Year Anniversary Reception will still be part of this Spring’s Symposium! Don’t miss out on a chance to hear from key figures throughout our past while we review our history, present updates on our current and strategic initiatives, and discuss our future priorities.
  • IJIS Advisory Committee meetings will be held on Monday afternoon, May 2nd.
  • The deadline for award nominations and event presentations has been extended to close of business Monday, February 28th. We encourage you to acknowledge and honor the contributions of your peers!
  • For any questions regarding available sponsorship opportunities, please email info@ijis.org.

Lastly, given the timing before our Spring Symposium, the IJIS team is looking at holding a virtual webinar to provide an update on ongoing initiatives, priorities, and opportunities for member engagement. Additional details will be forthcoming within the next month.

On behalf of the IJIS Team, we appreciate your support of this decision and the continued active engagement in our community efforts. We look forward to seeing you later this spring.

Sincerely,

Maria Cardiellos

IJIS Executive Director
