The IJIS Institute uses committees and task forces to help carry out its work.
The IJIS Institute convenes short-term task forces and working groups to investigate and address pressing issues impacting the justice, public safety and homeland security communities. These groups bring together industry, nonprofit, and government stakeholders to recommend solutions and/or define next steps that may be accomplished by follow-on project committees.
The purpose of this group of subject matter experts is to identify and review tools, processes, techniques, and practices that can yield immediate benefits for the IJIS domains of focus. Additionally, this group will be dedicated to developing standards, best practice guides, and recommendations to help increase defenses to the growing cyber threats to our communities nationwide.
Technology industry representatives will engage directly with the law enforcement community on image technologies and the many issues related to its use and application.
In 2019, the IACP CJIS Committee and the IJIS LEAC identified the need to revise previous versions of the standard functional specifications for law enforcement RMS to help guide agencies during the Request for Proposal (RFP) and procurement process. This group was formed to develop the refurbished resource.
