The IJIS Institute is excited to announce the release of a new podcast series entitled “IJIS Sounds of Safety”. The podcast will inform our Collaboration Network about critical issues within the justice, public safety, health and human services, critical infrastructure domains in a new format and spotlight the many collaborations between our public and private sector partners and members. This series will have a range of intriguing topics, all touching on data sharing within the public sector. This podcast will spotlight different programs and publications through all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and many others.
The first episode features the IJIS Cybersecurity Working Group and is hosted by the Chair of the Working Group Larry Zorio and Working Group member Jeramy Cooper-Leavitt. They explain what Cybersecurity Frameworks are, why they are so important for agencies to understand, and which framework they suggest most companies should use to heighten their overall security environment. Enjoy the discussion between these two veterans in the field and how they explain some best practices for your agency’s cybersecurity and which framework to utilize.
Looking ahead, the IJIS Institute will release many other episodes as part of the series. Future episodes will include cybersecurity and the importance of governance; looking into the history, value, and future of programs like N-Dex from the perspective of the practitioners; and unpacking both the advantages and disadvantages of using cloud-based services in the courts system. These are only a few of the many sessions already in development.
IJIS Institute Executive Director Maria Cardiellos explains why these podcasts are so important for the community: “As the complexity of the public sector’s data sharing needs continue to develop, and the comprehensiveness of the IJIS community services continue to advance, the vehicles to spread the word about the IJIS community and services must equally increase and diversify. This podcast series is an example of that expansion. We look forward to sharing lessons learned with our community peers and encourage new and great topics for discussion!”
