This plenary session will cover evidence-informed approaches to address violent crime and other significant public safety problems, presented by recognized experts in the fields of criminal justice, public safety and violence prevention research and program development.

2022 Mid-Year Briefing – Keynote #1: Leveraging Data to Address Reform
Criminal justice policymakers are often forced to make crucial decisions using limited or outdated criminal justice data. Justice Counts, a consensus-building initiative of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) led by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center, is designed to help criminal justice policymakers across the country make better decisions and build safer, stronger communities with data that’s more accurate, accessible, and actionable.

This session will convene leaders in the field that represent the national policy, research, and practitioner perspectives on how to respond to gun proliferation and gun violence.
