National Science Foundation Request for Input on Disruptive Technologies

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has issued a Request for Information to guide the development of its roadmap for researching emerging technologies.  This invitation is based on the requirements to develop a roadmap for its newly-established Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) Directorate, following the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.  IJIS Institute industry members may want to influence the research directions under this new statute and program, and find ways to partner with the NSF in conducting such research.

Companies and individuals can certainly respond directly to this RFI by the relatively short deadline of 7/27/23, but the IJIS Institute has been in touch with the NSF and indicated our plan to reach out to our industry members and present a consolidated view to NSF within two weeks following their deadline. The TIP team at NSF has welcomed such input while not promising that our recommendations will define their program, given that we are not likely to comply with their deadline. We do believe we can have an impact if we present a consolidated view from IJIS member companies.

If you would like to contribute thoughts and opinions in response to this RFI through a joint paper developed by the IJIS Institute ITAC Advisory Committee, please send your contributions to  Phil Dunphy (phil.dunphy@ijis.org) by COB August 4, 2023.

We look forward to this and future collaboration opportunities!
