Purpose
IJIS Institute Advisory Committees have working groups to handle specific topics and deliverables and task forces to tackle shorter-term issues. Both working groups and task forces will report to the Advisory Committee to which they belong.
The Background Check Working Group (WG) focus is on non-law enforcement background checks. The purposes of the Background Check WG are to create a specific recommendation for conducting non-law enforcement background checks within the Justice and Health and Human Services (HHS) domains; to serve as a resource of shared information to IJIS membership regarding non-law enforcement background checks; and, gather information about non-law enforcement background check processes for each state
The primary mission of the CAD-ITWG is to facilitate both the development of technology solutions and the supporting policies that define technology interactions. The CAD-ITWG is established under the IJIS Law Enforcement Advisory Committee (LEAC).
The CJIS Committee stood up a Cloud Security Working Group to look at issues around CJIS Security and “Cloud” hosted solutions in late 2020. The working group was charged with developing 2 White Papers on Cloud Security. One on “Cloud Fundamentals”, and the other on “Security, Privacy, and Compliance in the Cloud”.
The purpose of this group of subject matter experts is to identify and review tools, processes, techniques, and practices that can yield immediate benefits for the IJIS domains of focus. Additionally, this group will be dedicated to developing standards, best practice guides, and recommendations to help increase defenses to the growing cyber threats to our communities nationwide.
The ECCE-WG focuses on supporting Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) and the impacts of staffing challenges, potential for remote work and the impact of technological advances on the ECCs.
Sharing of personal information is critical to tie-together a person’s involvement in the criminal/civil justice ecosystem. Additionally, this information is subject to policy constraints, will help the entire criminal/civil justice system assess and focus on outcomes – including reducing re-incarceration rates. This group’s main priority is to create a model that focuses on a person’s involvement across the criminal/civil justice system and illustrates the view of a single person’s multiple episodes of system involvement, across a lifetime.
