Agenda

The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the Bureau of Justice Statistics are pleased to announce the launch of the new report, Equity and Law Enforcement Data Collection, Use, and Transparency. On May 25, 2022, President Biden signed the Executive Order on Advancing Effective, Accountable Policing and Criminal Justice Practices to Enhance Public Trust and Public Safety, which mandated this report as part of the Administration’s efforts to ensure our criminal justice system embodies fair and equal treatment, transparency, and accountability.

The Executive Order required the National Science and Technology Council’s (NSTC) Criminal Justice Statistics Interagency Working Group, composed of representatives of the Domestic Policy Council, the office of the Counsel to the President, the Department of Justice, the Office of Management and Budget, and OSTP to issue a report to the President on data collection, use, and transparency with respect to law enforcement activities at state, tribal, local, and territorial agencies. Datasets include calls for service, searches, stops, frisks, seizures, arrests, complaints, law enforcement demographics, and civil asset forfeiture.

This webinar will provide the first public briefing about the report and its findings. It will feature a discussion with Denice Ross and Dr. Alex Piquero, co-chairs of the working group, who will discuss the report findings and key recommendations for state and local leaders, law enforcement, researchers, and others in the police data ecosystem.

This webinar is free and open to the public.

Live captioning will be available.
