Artificial Intelligence (AI) Working Group

Introduction

The AI working group’s objective is to enhance the positive use of AI and associated technologies within the boundaries of current or newly developed policies, rules and regulations. The potential need for changes to said guiding doctrine not only apply to the justice and public safety communities, but also to other government mission areas nationwide. This objective will be met by assessing the current landscape of AI (including the different forms of AI) and why government agencies and private companies need to improve awareness regarding this technology. With the assistance of other IJIS committees, partners, and policy advocates, this research will help improve participants’ understanding that AI needs to be closely examined by the group to ideally enhance AI use and better understand policy and regulations within our communities.
